Project #2 – Investigative Collection of Evidence

For the purpose of this second Project, you are still the Data Security Analyst for Allied Technology Systems. Consider this project a continuation of the work you performed in Project #1. In this portion of the investigation, you are ONLY collecting the physical evidence, documenting and reporting. You will NOT be handling the digital data during this stage of the investigation. (This step will be discussed in the Final Project.) You should limit your “care and handling” of each piece of evidence to the physical handling of the digital item/container.

With the scenario in mind, you are to write a report to your supervisor, thoroughly providing a response to the following questions (in paragraph format, properly citing outside research, where appropriate) to both Part I and Part II of the project:

Part I: Overview/Case Summary

1. Write a short summary of the incident that has occurred and establish what permissions/authorities you have before you search Mr. Jackson’s former Company work area.

Part II: Physical Evidence Acquisition:

2. Look at the photo of Mr. Jackson’s work area. (See file attachment Work_Area.jpg) Identify three (3) potential items of digital evidence you see in the photo.

• For EACH item of digital evidence you identified, describe the steps that would be taken to collect the items (with emphasis on the care and handling of each item consistent with digital forensic best practices described in the module content/weekly readings) at the scene. You should document these steps in a detailed way that will mitigate questions, concerns, or a basic lack of information that will call your processes into question in court.

• Also for EACH item you identified, explain what potential use the item would be within the investigation (e.g., what type of data that item might hold, and what kind of evidence represents for prosecution.)

3. Look at the photo of Mr. Jackson’s work area. (See file attachment Work_Area.jpg) Identify three (3) potential items of non-digital evidence you see in the photo.

• For EACH item of non-digital evidence you identified, describe the steps that would be taken to collect the items (with emphasis on the care and handling of each item consistent with digital forensic best practices described in the module content/weekly readings) at the scene.

4. Detail in your report how your seized evidence from Questions two (2) and three (3) are secured and stored after removing it from the original scene (the work area) and prior to sending it for analysis. Describe the security procedures in place as well as any environmental protections (specific to computer/digital devices) that are in place within the storage area.

5. Look at the Evidence Custody Document (See file attachment Evidence Custody Document.doc) and item photographs (Items-seized (pics).pptx). Read the Evidence Custody Document prepared by one of your co-workers in which they are attempting to document the seizure of the three (3) items pictured in the accompanying photos. Did your co-worker adequately describe each item? What could be added to the descriptions, and for which items (based on what you see in the photos) to make them more complete and serve as an example to your co-worker of what they SHOULD look like (how they should be described)?

Project Requirements:

• Paper should be submitted as a basic report memo HOWEVER, an APA-formatted cover page, in-text citations, and reference page is required. (See the following link for memo writing guidelines: http://www.umuc.edu/writingcenter/writingresources/effective_memos.cfm

• Each question should be answered with a minimum of 1-2 paragraphs, so do your research, be specific, be detailed, and demonstrate your knowledge; submitting your project through the appropriate assignment folder.

• Answers to the above questions should be submitted in a single Microsoft Word document (.DOC/.DOCX), with answers separated and/or numbered in respect to the question, so as to make it clear which question is being answered. It may be in a question and answer format, or as described with answers to the associated question numbers;

• The paper should be written in third-person grammar, not first person (I, me, myself, etc.);

• The submission is to have a cover page that includes course number, course title, title of paper, student’s name, and the date of submission per APA writing format;

• Format: 12-point font, double-space, one-inch margins;

• It is mandatory that you do some research, and utilize outside resources! You must have a reference page at the end of your project that is consistent with APA citation style and format (see https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ for help).

1000 word essay – family history

The Reaction Paper Assignment

You  will be writing a 1,000 word Reaction Paper in this course using the  instructions and links found below. You will be completing the following  6 tasks and gathering the following information for your paper:

  1. Read the transcript of the epigenetics video from PBS (the video is no longer available for streaming). Begin your paper by defining epigenetics in your own words and discussing your reaction to the video.
  2. Interview your family members and complete the Family History-Dr. Oz.pdf.  Find out which disease(s) you are most at risk for.
  3. Research  and locate one article on epigenetics and whatever disease you are most  at risk for (select a study on research conducted on humans) from a  reputable academic source:

Reputable Sources:

  • journal articles
  • government publications based on research

Do not use:

  • magazines of any sort, whether they are on paper or online
  • Websites of any type, including epigenetics websites
  • Wikipedia

How to Perform Your Research

  • Use the College Library in person or online (log in with your new  MDC ID number (the one that is all numbers). Your password is the last  four digits of that same MDC ID unless you have changed it.

Read  the epigenetics article you find. Continue your paper with a discussion  of the epigenetics article. Be sure to paraphrase (put things in your  own words) and be sure to cite the author(s) of the article you find  using APA style (see the section below on using APA style). Aim for  about a page for this part of your paper.

  1. Discuss the concept of epigenesis in light of your family history and the article you read. Aim for one page for this section of your paper.
  2. Complete the Living to 100 Questionnaires. Integrate your findings on the questionnaire into your discussion. Aim for another page. (MY PREDICTED AGE WAS 88 YEARS OLD. I WILL PASTE BELOW THE FEEDBACK THE QUESTIONAIRE GAVE ME)
  3. Discuss how you can improve your health and longevity  in light of your findings in this questionnaire, your understanding of  epigenetics, and your knowledge of your family history. This should be  your final page.

LIVING TO 100 RESULTS – Personal

+ 0.75 You noted that you manage your stress poorly. Do a significantly better job and you could add three quarters of a year to your life expectancy  + 0.5 Cutting back on your hours at work, approaching, if you can, 40 or fewer hours, could add half a year to your longevity

Lifestyle

+ 0.5 Minimizing or cutting out your caffeinated coffee consumption completely could provide you with about half a year more in life expectancy  + 1.0 If it is ok with your doctor, taking an 81  mg aspirin every day improves your heart and brain health and could help  you delay or escape a heart attack or stroke. It is best to take the  aspirin every day rather than your occasional habit of taking aspirin.  Taking an aspirin each day, perferably in the evening, could add another year to your life expectancy.  + 1.0 There is a clear link between the inflammation of gum disease and heart disease. Do a good job of flossing daily and you could add a year to your life expectancy.

Nutrition

+ 1.0 The more you can get fast foods out of your  diet the better. While you are already doing a pretty good job of doing  so, completely removing fast oods from your diet could add a year to your life expectancy  + 0.5 Cutting back sweets in your diet to 1-2 times per week or less could add half a year to your life expectancy

Medical

+ 1.0 Examining yourself for cancer could add a year to your life expectancy  + 1.0 Decreasing your systolic blood pressure (the first of the two numbers) to 120 or even lower could add 1 year to your life expectancy  + 1.5 Getting your blood pressure checked annually could add a year and a half to your life expectancy  + 0.5 Getting your blood sugar checked could add half a year to your life expectancy

You can go over or under a page for any of the sections of the paper as long as your total paper is 1,000 words not counting the references.

Rough draft review and graphic chart due today

  Paper has already been done!- I simply need you to read my rough draft and turn into an academic APA style format with a performance indicator chart for mentoring. I have also attached my 4 week log so you can use that information to populate some type of  performance indicator chart for the mentoring process so far.

In Topic 3, you completed an outline for your Individual Development Plan. At this point, you will select two activities to implement with your mentee. The two activities can be related to the same discipline or you can try and introduce separate activities that work on separate areas of growth. For example, if your mentee is working in listening skills, you can have the mentee create a written description of personal experiences with listening over the past few weeks. This would allow you to use techniques to redirect the mentee’s listening behavior during certain experiences. In addition, you could task the mentee with the opportunity to engage in a listening activity with another coworker or friend. This scenario could utilize some of the techniques you provided based on results from the first activity. Or, you can develop an activity for listening and an activity for communicating with others. You need to evaluate your current mentoring experience and create activities that will benefit your learning experience and your mentee’s mentoring experience. You will have the next 2 weeks to complete this portion of your assignment. The activity can be a written requirement, physical requirement, or an activity that initiates a behavioral change over a predetermined timeframe. As your mentee is working through the activity, monitor the progress and utilize any coaching or mentoring techniques necessary to guide your mentee to be successful. You must spend a minimum of 3 hours monitoring and working with your mentee for each activity. If you are in a location that prevents conducting the activity face-to-face, please use technology or additional resources to ensure you are providing a positive coaching and mentoring experience for your mentee.

Complete a 500 word reflection on the information you have obtained through the monitoring process. This could consist of a performance indicator chart along with a brief explanation of the current status in the coaching/mentoring process.

Application: Ending the Client/Case Manager Relationship

Celebrate endings, for they precede new beginnings.
–Jonathan Lockwood Huie

As they terminate their relationships with clients, case managers work to transition the focus from empowerment of clients through the use of resources to empowerment through reintegration. Reintegration with family, friends, community, and oneself can be a difficult process for clients. Enlisting clients in long-term services should be established prior to case management service termination.

For this Assignment, you consider ways in which you might terminate services with each of your virtual clients. What skills might you ensure that Charlene and James have before ending treatment? What agencies might you establish long-term goals with for Abigail, Robert, and Adam? To successfully terminate each case, you first evaluate the effectiveness of the treatments you provided for each client. You then develop comprehensive plans for the maintenance and termination of your cases.

To Prepare for this Assignment:

  • Review Chapter 9, “Challenges and Visions.” Focus on the strategies described.
  • Review the article, “The Quest for Optimal Health: Can Education and Training Cure What Ails Us?” Consider the implications described for “self-directed recovery.” during Week 4, in which you located resources and agencies in your community to find assistance for your clients.
  • Review the article, “The Role of Self–Efficacy in Recovery From Serious Psychiatric Disabilities: A Qualitative Study With Fifteen Psychiatric Survivors.” Focus on the findings concerning the preparation of clients for recovery and reintegration.
  • Consider the ways that your clients’ cases may have progressed.
  • Think about how you might translate your clients’ experiences into the appropriate language for documentation.
  • Think about how to terminate your cases based on the progress made by each client.

The Assignment (1 page)

  • Develop a plan for the termination of case management services for your virtual clients.
  • Explain one way the case management process has resulted in recovery, reintegration, or empowerment for your virtual clients.
