Destinations in Greece can be affected by internal external
How destinations in Greece can be affect ed by internal external and natural factors. How can be act proactive in order to ensure sustainability. Designing proactive destinations to endure socio-political internal and external factors, the case of Lesvos (Greece).
Introduction (below I am writing the parts that should be included in the introduction)
Why is this topic worth researching, a paragraph that identifies the problem. Ex. It is well establish ed in the tourism literature that the social political changes have a diverse influence on tourism and can even act as pull factors for a destination (source, date). Still the recent development and augmentation of tourism flows has placed a great pressure on natural, social and economic recourses in most destinations (source, date). As competition between destinations increases and as the tourism phenomenon is continuously growing. It is important to identify the challenges of the social political environment. Also, the influence (positive of negative) that these can have on a destination. Consequently it is equally important to formulate strategies and actions that will prevent or minimize negative consequences.
The central aim of this dissertation is to identify proactive measures or strategies for destinations in order to better adjust or barricade their environment (natural, social and economic) from sociopolitical changes.
Identify the internal and external factors
In attempt to fulfill this central aim it is clear that the first objective of this dissertation is to identify the internal and external factors of the environment that affect destinations with emphasis on the recent Greek migration phenomenon. The second objective is to examine and analyze current practices internationally in order to identify best practices and determine their effectiveness for Greece.
Finally the third objective is to examine a destination that has been greatly affected by in-migration like Lesvos. Also, examine the effectiveness or ever the approval that those best practices will have.
Methodology, qualitative research
Interview with NGOS working with refugees in order to examine the status of their arrival.
Conduct interviews with Hospitality professionals in Lesvos to confirm the way and extent to which migration has influenced tourism on their island. Explore their willingness to adopt best practices in order to minimize the negative effects, their willingness to compromise.
